Reccommendations for The Milky Way

Postby mikaselm » Wed Dec 03, 2014 10:23 pm

Hello, All! according to my planetarium app, I should be able to see a good milky way this time of year, and I thought that a good pic with the constellation camera might get a good representation of the milky way. I haven't quite found a way to search that in the image gallery, though, so I wondered if anyone had any suggestions as far as settings and which constellations to aim at for the best pics?

Thanks!

If you're looking for gallery images, the constellations of Sagittarius and Scorpio are good. I have often recommended targeting Messier 8 (with constellation cam) as it's quite well positioned within the milky way, so you'll find some good images searching by those settings too.

Unfortunately, constellation cam is currently offline with a cooling failure. And Sagittarius, Scorpio and Messier 8 aren't visible this time of year. Around July is the best time in my experience. The camera should be repaired by then.
