Re: Issues with COAST

I too have made synthetic flats for COAST using 50-100 images for each filter as I did for BRT. However, these flats don't work as well as the BRT flats did. For COAST images taken when the sky was moonless, the corners of the frames appear over-corrected. This is because the dark subtracted images ...

Issues with COAST

COAST has been up and running over three weeks now and its great to see how productive the telescope has been following a long drought with BRT/ART. However, there are some issues with the new telescope that users should be aware of, especially those using it for photometry. There is a calibration i...

Re: Is this forum still live?

Has anyone heard anything lately about when BRT might be running again? Three months is a long time for this scope to be down. Would be nice to look at some winter and spring objects before their season ends.

Thanks,

Bob

Re: "Clouds"

David,

Looks like scattered moonlight to me. Saw this on a few other jobs as well. Hard to avoid this with a bright Moon and no dewcap on the main scope.

Re: Multiple job request problem

Ed, I understand that BRT is used for public education as well as individual amateurs. But there has to be a way to accomodate both groups. For example, simply changing the order that these multiple jobs requests are done would partially alleviate the problem. BRT shouldn't be looking at objects in ...

Re: Multiple job request problem

In addition to the other recent problems discussed on this forum, it looks like the multiple job problem has returned. Here's a screencap of the job queue taken early this evening: http://www.rjm-astro.net/BRT_queue_9-15-15.jpg It shows 9 fairly new jobs scored higher than older ones. Also, four of ...

Re: Cloud sensor

In the last hour (~21h UT, 9/14), there have now been 4 false positives with the cloud sensor. The Dec. is not homed properly and the dome is blocking half the FOV of the ConstellationCam!

Please do something about this ASAP!

Thanks,

Bob

Re: Cloud sensor

Just to echo what David said, there are false positives almost every night with the cloud sensor. Since many of these are happening during the first hour of operation, many early evening jobs are not getting done. The Dec. homing issue has also returned, also causing delays during the first hour of ...

Re: Cloud sensor

Ed, Thanks for the reply. As I type this (21:50 UT), another false positive occurred twice in the last half hour. A 180 sec BVR job failed twice as a result of this. How often does the cloud sensor/camera take a measurement? Will a single bad measurement be enough to trigger an error conditon or doe...

Re: Cloud sensor

There were more false positives from the cloud detection sensor last night. Skies were clear each time. Is there a problem with the pole star camera occasionally returning bad frames?
